Featured Speakers (Presentations below):

Christina Warren (of Mashable.com )

Stephen Abram (Illuminating library trends, innovation, & information)

Jody Turner (Culture of Future)

Alex Jarvis (Chronicle Prof. Hacker)

We had a great crowd, in person and online through LYRASIS. Lots of great Tweets with the #yalefwd hashtag, and some fun with Color, Instagram, and Hashable. We tried to take our speakers to Pepe’s famous pizzeria but the power went out during the thunderstorm :p

The June 9 Yale Library Research Education Symposium focused on “Changes and Tensions in Teaching and Technology.”

Presentations:

  • Stephen AbramFuture Ready: Academic Libraries on the Edge.
  • Yale 2011

Includes bonus slides. View more presentations from Stephen Abram
  • Jody Turner -
    • Jody’s talk completely blew me away. I loved her idea – “Disruption as a Future Normalcy.” She also mentioned that with a rise in self learning comes a change to education.
  • We were beyond lucky to have Christina Warren present as well. Christina (@film_girl) is a technology reporter for Mashable.com. Mashable is among the top most influential technology and media news outlets in the world, make sure that Mashable is at the top of your daily current awareness resources and like them on Facebook. I was floored by Christina’s ability to connect the important dots, reveal the major tech trends, and articulate future directions for libraries. Looking for a great speaker for your libraries and technology conference? Invite Christina.
  • I absolutely enjoyed Alex Jarvis’s talk. The crowd loved his humor and insight. I will be looking for more opportunities to hear his thought for sure.
